Wi-Fi Alliance Services demonstrates commercial operation readiness
Austin, TX and Washington, D.C. – December 13, 2023 – Wi-Fi Alliance Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Wi-Fi Alliance®, proudly announces the successful completion by Wi-Fi Alliance of all the requirements for regulatory approval of its Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) system by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Wi-Fi Alliance subsequently requested to transfer its application to Wi-Fi Alliance Services in preparation for commercial 6 GHz standard power operations.
With completion of the rigorous testing regime comprised of both a controlled laboratory environment and a public demonstration, Wi-Fi Alliance confirmed that its AFC System is ready for commercial operations by Wi-Fi Alliance Services. This significant achievement represents a culmination of a multiyear dedicated effort to enable the 6 GHz standard power Wi-Fi® ecosystem.
Equipment vendors stand ready to leverage standard power 6 GHz Wi-Fi in their products. Once officially approved for commercial operations by the FCC – expected by early 2024 – Wi-Fi Alliance Services will expand Wi-Fi connectivity across the United States.
