Wi-Fi Alliance Services announces final approval by Federal Communications Commission of the Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) system
State-of-the-art 6 GHz Wi-Fi® AFC system approved for commercial operations
Austin, TX and Washington, DC – February 23, 2024 – Wi-Fi Alliance Services Corporation (Wi-Fi Alliance Services) is proud to announce final approval by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for commercial operations of its 6 GHz Wi-Fi® Automated Frequency Coordination (Wi-Fi AFC) system. This significant milestone underscores Wi-Fi Alliance Services’ commitment to enhancing the availability and performance of the 6 GHz Wi-Fi ecosystem. The Wi-Fi AFC system is now available to support 6 GHz outdoor and standard power Wi-Fi for service provider, enterprise, and retail markets.
After successfully completing the FCC’s multiyear, rigorous evaluation and testing process, Wi-Fi Alliance Services’ Wi-Fi AFC system is ready to support rapidly expanding standard power 6 GHz Wi-Fi deployments. Wi-Fi AFC system is a secure, cloud-based service for AP vendors and service providers that manages frequency access for 6 GHz standard power devices while ensuring the protection of important incumbent operations.
